For our individual animation project during this semester, the assignment was to model and animate a simple, nonhuman character based on any inanimate object. I decided to create a piece of sushi in a cutesy, chibi-like style. I also used the project as an opportunity to get a bit more familiar with Substance Painter, and I am especially happy with the stylised salmon texture I created. For the rig I used a lattice deformer, which caused some minor issues during setup, but later worked just how I wanted it to. Since one requirement was also to use Phoenix simulations, I animated the sushi jumping into a bowl of soy sauce. I did work on a very tight deadline, which is why I mainly focused on the character and left the environment rather plain (and also left out other extras like the sauce pitcher from the concept art), but I am still happy about my learnings during this project.
